Hi all. Wisteria help.
I trained a Wisteria up a thick pole about 15 yrs ago to form a weeping tree, it's been wonderful every year since it started flowering all those years ago. But this year it suddenly died after it flowered.
On inspection it has several healthy suckers growing from the bottom. I'm at a loss to know what to do with it. Shall I saw the dead trunk down, which is quite thick, and train one of the suckers, or is it best to dig the whole thing up and start again.

Thanks Seaburngirl. I know it will take a few years for it to flower again and I'm willing to take the risk on the variety,
I have to choose now which whip to select there's about eight growing from the roots.

Personally I'd train the bits from the bottom. but was the flowering bit grafted onto a rootstock? if yes then the new growth could be from the root stock and may not be the same variety as the grafted part that has died. worth a try though.
