I have a Black Lace Sambucus 18 mths old been very healthy up till now. Top half still healthy with new growth but bottom half leaves are drying and falling and it quite bare. Am I doing something wrong?

How far north do you live? Possibly might just be the beginnings of autumn? Ours isn't dropping yet but it is still like summer here during the day.

I live in the North of Scotland and Autumn has begun. So maybe just let it do its autumn thing and await the ne w growth.Never had one before so wasn't sure. Do you prune yours at all?.

Pruning is different depending on what you want. if you want a smallish bushy plant just grown for the leaves you can prune it quite hard now. If you want flowers wait until they are over and prune then.
