Have a Mock Orange which has grown to about7-8 feet but no flowers this year, when planting was hoping for a bush of about3-4 feet as I once had at our last home, do you think I now have the wrong variety.

Hi, it sounds as though you have 1 of the larger species, there's about 40 species, varying in height from about 4ft to over 10ft, it should flower next year if you leave any pruning until just after flowering, Derek.

Youi want something like Philadelphus 'Manteau d'hermine', which gets about a metre tall with a spread of 1.5 metres.

We have inherited a mock orange in our new garden. It's very tall (more than 10 feet) but was covered in flowers. I think it flowers on previous years growth so if it had been pruned prior to planting it may not flower until next year. I hope yours has a scent as ours doesn't. We have lopped it down to 2 feet now so no flowers next year.
