I have a jostaberry in its second year. Some leaves have a brown powdery in appearance thread like discoloration (not powder as it does not rub off) and a lesser number have lumps

the jostaberry is supposed to be resistant to most of the common blackcurrant diseases but this sounds a little as if it could be blackcurrant leaf spot or a gall mite. As the Josta berry is so vigorous I'd be surprised if it can't overcome whatever is affected it. If it's just a few leaves, I'd remove them and burn them to dispose of whatever pest is there. Is the plant well fed and on good soil?
