thanks , it is south facing and gets lots of sun- rain harvesting from glass roof can be arranged - rosemary might be the answer - or other mediterranean trailing plants. So far there is no container , as these will be made to hang off the balcony depending on what plants we can get hold of.

Unless you have very frequent rain, you will probably need to water between storms. Here in Phoenix, Arizona, we need to water potted ones twice a day, in the summer.
