how can a diverse ecology be developed

Answers

Erm, this is too broad a question and rather non specific - do you mean in soil, in the world generally, or politically?

Hi Snowball and welcome to GoY as Bamboo says your question is far too broad for us to answer. Also, and forgive me if I'm wrong, it sounds like an exam or test question; if so we really need even more context to answer.

I also think it's a very broad question,
but in a garden, you could have a pond for aquatic plants, a dry rockery with good drainage for alpines, some shrubs for shade where you can grow plants that don't like to be in the eye of the sun, a greenhouse or cold frame where you can grow drought resistant plants ... etc
But you'd have to get down to it and construct them yourself. They wouldn't just 'develop'.

I think this sort of question is set for you to do your own research though, rather than just asking somebody. If you are thinking in general rather than gardens,(which Hywel has covered perfectly) think about the terrain in question, what sort of plants flourish there. what do they need? What animals and insects would be supported by them? (eg on an alkaline soil you might find beech, bluebells, and russula flourishing. the beech would support animals and birds that ate the nuts etc. A really important point is diversity - avoid monocultutres and make sure there are lots of flowers for pollinators.

Sounds like a homework question to me. We could tell you the answer, but how are you going to reference your work? "Some geesers on a gardening website" probably wont cut the mustard lol Best to do this thing you might have heard of called "reading books" ;)
