I have a standard spotted laurel. The ends of many of the top leaves have gone black . This has happened before. Pick them off and the plant is fine for a while and then it comes back.Other wise a very healthy plant with lots of new growth

It's a plant that grows in shade in the wild (Japan). It hates full sun. Spotted Laurel (Aucuba japonica) is completely unrelated to Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) or Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) which are perfectly happy in full sun. Many people assume that "Laurel" equates to happy in full sun but this name is unfortunately applied to the above and The Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis) also a sun lover.

My Dad put ours in the Front Garden (South Facing) years ago when he was alive, I get some lovely red berrys on it which look lovely.
