Get a copy of 'The Yellow Book' which will tell you which private gardens open for charity and when. Mine was open in June, but I could probably open 'by appointment' if I had enough warning. I am number 6 in the Somerset section of the book.
As I live in West Somerset, I could probably advise on other gardens to visit, both private ones and large National Trust owned ones, plus of course Nurseries.
Which part of Somerset did you want to stay in or see in particular?

Stourhead Gardens is very nice.
But if you google "gardens to visit in somerset". there is a bit that comes up saying "gardens in somerset to visit - special somerset gardens"
Click on that bit and you should get a list up of where to visit , i hope that helps
