Disorientated Sunflower

You may recall I recently asked why my sunflower wouldn't follow the course of the sun? Well, I have found the answer. Apparently the bud follows the sun, as mine did, but once the flower opens it remains looking East. Aren't encyclopaedias marvelous things?

Well I never! I shall to have a look at the fields full of them on my way home to and from work on the train this evening and tomrorow morning and see if their heads change direction ....
