What size of container would be appropriate for sunflowers (sizes, depth etc)? I want to plan 3 or 4 grown at the back of the house but this is all paved, it is white walled and south facing so seemed a good place?

Hope it is ok but I'll be asking questions now for the spring as I want to pick up bargains in the end of season sales.

Thanks,
Pam

If you mean the really large giant sunflowers, then you require a large pot. The bigger the better and the larger your sunflower will grow. Sunflowers which are restricted will just grow smaller with smaller flowers. Why not grow one of the new miniature varieties?

How tall do the minatures get?

Thanks

Miniatures don't often grow over 3ft high. They often produce many flowerheads per plant, and can be grown easily in tubs if watered regularly). being accessible, deadheading is easy, and you can see them better. popular varieties of dwarf ones include "Little Leo", "Chocolate Chip", for example. We have forsaken growing record tall ones for the dwarf ones.

Thank you both. I may try to experiment with both and see how I go but find a space in the beds for a tall one rather than using the container.

How do I say thanks?
