obtained 4 fruit trees in March this year, now planted in pots and growing.
Question - requiring to place in ground, when would be the best time, and obviously soil would become detached from roots when moving. - would this be a problem

I would say either wait till autumn, or if there is some pressing reason to do it now, go ahead but water very regularly. If the new planting holes for your trees are well prepared, and earth firmed down properly afterwards, I don't see why there would be any problem - unless your varieties are known to be particularly fussy and sensitive perhaps.
Don't forget a stake at an angle if they need it, but I can't advise you on detail of that, so search the site for more info (use search box).
We too have some kind of cherry tree bought on a whim from the supermarket(!) which is potbound still, living next to the water butt in the shade.
