It has a range of common names including Roast-Beef Plant & Stinking Gladwin :-) it's a lovely British native though

There is also a cross between it and I pseudacorus (possibly no one is dead certain). The cross is called I. 'Holden Clough, it is a lovely thing.

Previous question
The native Iris, Iris foetidissima. Can be a bit of a thug if suited. Flowers followed by bright orange berries which the birds love and spread widely.
