two queries for campanula lactiflora please. ive a Loddon Anna which is so pale its almost grey pink! Is there anything I can add to the soil to oomph the colour? Secondly, ive a blue which I adore and has always grown about a meter across, however this year I have a small "bunch" - there have always been ants at the roots for years, could they be the cause or has anyone else had poor performance after the severe winter please? many thanks

Lodden Anna is pale coloured, at least ours is.
Yes ants will not do a plant much good. The acid they produce can kill off roots very quickly. I would dig up the plant in question, destroy the ants nest and replant in fresh soil. If the plant is really poor it may be worth putting in a pot and giving some T.L.C. until it is thriving again.
