Garrya elliptica
Hi and a happy new year to everyone. I've not been on site for awhile as I have had other comments, but it is good to be back, and once again I am hoping someone can help me,
can anyone please tell me if I can grow garrya elliptica on a south west wall .the wall can get quite hot on a very sunny day

if you can site it where the light from the house shines onto it in winter the illuminated catkins are a real joy at night!

hi, thanks bamboo and steragram, just bought a pot for the plant, all I need now is some decent weather, (one can always live in hope)

Keep it in a spot where its very sheltered and not liable to freeze until spring starts - Garrya elliptica can be killed when young by cold weather, especially if its in a pot.

Yes, it'll be fine, so long as its sheltered. They tolerate shade quite well, but produce the best catkins in a sunnier spot.
