hi all and happy new year,
i planted a selection of bare root roses in late feb of last year and remarkably all but one of them did really well, the question i have is about the struggling one, i planted it exactly the same as the others, used the same fertilizers and growing aids but it just hasn't done anything, i don't think its dead as the foliage is still green and it looks for all the world like a normal bare root rose, i would like to know if there is anything i can do to get it to grow, do i dig it up and replant it, or leave it or something else in a bit stumped as what to do

come march give it a prune down to 2 buds per stem. often the pruning will stimulate it. it may have had more root damage when it was lifted than the others hence its sulkiness. the fact it has green growth is good.

thanks for the advise, i will give it a light prune and see what happens, after doing a bit of searching it seems that this is not uncommon in roses, so i will grin and bear it.

Changing its location might be all that is needed to give it a kick. Otherwise, give it tincture of time and see what happens.
