Algarve, Portimao, Portugal
We live in Portugal, and have several Carob trees, one of which we are told it 200 years old. Anyway at this time of year they are producing a lot and I mean a lot of new shoots, is there anything we can say paint them with, or treat them with to stop this, as it is very time consuming to de- shoot them all the time. Thanks for your help.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

Here in the States, there are preparations of napthalene acetic acid available for that. They are pretty pricey, but they have been effective for me. I don't know if they are available in Portugal, though. I have also used Superthrive to good effect for that, and it's slightly more likely to be available there. Good luck!

I think you are going to have to continue to de-shoot them, if you were wanting to get rid of the whole tree you could cut down and use SBK stump killer on the roots but that seems rather drastic to me.
