Can anyone recommend grasses for deep shade? The ones I've looked at are sun/semi shade lovers. Thankyou

Thanks for answering Wildlife. Yes, ferns are great for shade; I thought some grasses would complement them.

Carex coman 'Frosted Curls' and the bronze form are both shade tolerant.

Luzula sylvatica will grow in shade, even dry shade, but it is too vigorous for a small space. Millium effusum 'Aureum' likes damp shade.

My Stipa Anemanthele lessoniana (used to be called Stipa arundinacea) is very happy in shade, and for part of the year turns gently bronze.

I had to get rid of that one, Sheila. It seeded all over the place :-(

It obviously loves your garden to bits, Andrew! Mine seeds itself, but only gently - just now and again - which I'm very happy with :)
