Where do they all go? On wandering round the garden Centre, as you do, I got to wondering where all the plants and seeds go, there are racks of seeds, boxes of garden ready plants, as well as all the mail order plug plants, super plugs and garden ready plants. Are there enough gardens out there, or even enough gardeners to absorb all these treasures?
I can buy a few tomato plants for the cost of a pack of seeds and choose the varieties and the condition. Also many bedding plants I would never risk growing from seed.
So there we are, just got me wondering

My local nursery seems to sell all its bedding plants but I've sometimes wondered what happens to the seeds too. I know they plant up the left over bulbs and sell them ready growing. Mail order people sell them off cheap at the end of the planting season. Mabe some of them end up in supermarkets and Wilkos for example? I agree is isn't worth growing things like a few tomatooes from seed if you are happy with the popular varieties. I've only room for about three and get them from Homebase.

we have a garden centre full of expensive stuff but that still does well . if the 30,000 people in the town and probably a similer amount from outside buy one thing a year that's a lot of stuff .

A lot of people have gardens but not a lot of people are gardeners. I would say most people where I live buy bedding and never protect plants, so they constantly need to buy plants.

Anything left over, say bedding, is normally composted.

Our GC sell the seeds for 50p a packet in the autumn......ready for the christmas decorations to take their place......they have long dates so I have mine ready for this year. .....

Lots of people have good intentions, in particular with packets of seeds, which they may buy quite a lot of, being attracted by the pictures. But then they never use them - I've done it myself on more than one occasion. I guess its a bit like buying all the gear to wear at the gym, but never actually making it to the gym...

I've never even go that far...
But do own up to having some unopened seed packets.

oooh, creme eggs, I love 'em, so I'd have been one of the people consuming a fair number. But not any longer - the new owners of Cadburys (Kraft foods) have changed the chocolate recipe to something with less cocoa solids, more sugar and more fat, and rendered the whole delight of a creme egg obsolete. In fact, I've written to them to say thanks for curing my addiction - I've not bought anything by Cadburys (except that single creme egg this year) for 18 months because the chocolate's not the same.

Cadburys giant buttons are quite nice......better than their chocolate which I think is now gritty......I like galaxy though......mmmmm

Not buying anything Cadbury on principle any more, Pam! Someone on the radio the other day complaining bitterly about Wispa (not one I ever liked) being too disgusting to eat when it used to be her favourite... she described it as 'like American chocolate', which I've not eaten, so no idea what that means. Ersatz, probably...

4,377,544 cars sold so far this year which means every second someone can drive a brand new car to buy a cream egg and a plant if they want and theres only just over another 11 months to go not to mention vans, lorries, planes, boats and motorbikes . of course theres also all the cars before that and legs etc . im really worried about the ingrediance in crème eggs myself .

I'm through with Cadburys too - they promised at takeover time that they would not change any recipes - how long did that last? I tried a Hershey bar once - got someone to bring me one back from their holidays, having read so much
about how deicious they are. I was desperately disappointed and would never have one again. If that's the way Cadbury's are going they will lose trade. Favourite chocolate no longer.

I had a response from Cadburys, in which they described creme eggs as having 'delicious' chocolate, despite my contacting them to say they were not. I was infuriated - can't reproduce any of my response to it sent this morning, its not for tender ears or eyes... there's one thing about getting old, I don't care about being 'impolite' or 'rude' any more, you just say it like it is, well, to business people anyway.
