I allowed a lovely orchid to get too cold on the windowsill and the flowers drooped and the remaining buds are not going to open. Is it dead or what can I do?

All is not lost. If it's a phalaenopsis then trim the stem just above a node further down. They are temperamental plants; they don't even like the angle of the flowers to be altered never mind changes of temperature. Try and keep it in a warming humid place. I have 3 in the bathroom and have had one plant in flower now for 8 months. Good luck though ism sure you'll have plenty more advice.
