I've just bought bags of farmyard manure can I put it straight in the borders will it be ok to put flowers in this year it says on the bag put straight on the garden will it not burn the roots Cheers Dave

Some times the bagged stuff contains manure mixed with bark mulch and peat, instead of well rotted manure and composted farmyard bedding.

Another illusion bites the dust then. I only get ours from the stables down the road or a farm. The beans test is brilliant Snoop!

There was a time I'd have happily put bagged manure on, or in, our ground... not anymore unless I really knew its provenance.

If it says so on the bag it will be OK. The danger comes from the fresh stuff from the farm that hasn't had time to rot down.
