I have three raised beds for vegetables each approx 5 mtrs by 4 mtrs.
This year we are going to be away from home for most of the summer and therefore little point in planting anything which needs attention, watering etc.
Is there anything I can plant in all of the beds which will improve the soil and which I can simply dig back in in the autumn?

Hi again, I forgot to mention that raised beds are usually 4' wide, not 4 metres, so that you can plant up from each side without walking on the soil, thereby compacting it, Derek.

Hi, welcome to GoY, green manure is usually grown after a crop has finished in autumn, but you can grow Buckwheat, Fagopyrum esculentum, or Fenugreek, Trigonella foenum graecum in summer, they both develop dense foliage, which will help keep weeds down, and can be turned into the soil in autumn, Derek.
