Front garden pillar hedge died. Should I let the ivy use this as a climbing frame or plant another plant with the same dimensions there? Somebody I spoke to said paint it green as that way you get to keep the structure!! Never heard that one before!! Anyway any suggestions are very welcome. :)

Paint it? Now that would be a challenge for a graffiti artist!

Yes, its time to bite the bullet and start again. The ground will need a loit of improving first as those hedges are very greedy feeders.

Next question
It will need removed at some time as it will naturally break down, even with Ivy covering it. I would remove the dead hedge and replace it after fertilising the area.
