Hi everyone
Could someone please offer me some advise? my front garden is open plan at the moment it is just grass which is lumpy, there is a old tree that has been cut down that is now gowning mushrooms on it how easy is it to put down edging stones and slate chippings ,? How do I do

If the tree stump is a big one it might be too large for you to remove by hand, in which case if you want it out you will need to call in a contractor, who can either grind the stump away or dig it out. Some trees send up suckers even when the tree is cut down - do you know what sort of tree it was?
It might be the tree roots that are making the lawn look lumpy.

It is easy. Remove all the grass and the stump. Compact down soil and cover with weed suppressing membrane. Add edging and slate chippings. You will still get weeds, but they should be easy to remove as the roots are attached to the membrane and not in the soil.
