I have bought some onion shallots can i chit them like i have with my seed potatoes till i plant them

I have previously started shallots off in modules and then planted them out when the soil is a bit warmer. The birds don't seem to pull them out when there is green foliage

No you do not chit shallots. They can be planted in open ground from February.
