After reading that Lewisia need to be planted in the cleft in a rock, to drain rainwater out of the crown, I was puzzling how to achieve this. Looked at the sad remains of my own Lewisiai. This was why it wasnt thriving. It was planted with TLC in a posh glazed concrete planter to adorn my gravel beds. Now it has dawned on me to tip this planter on its side, so my Lewisiai will be where it wants to be.
Thanks to our Alpine growing friends up at Inverness for this advice. How many more Alpines are affected in this way ?
