'Fraid not, no - they're bulbous in nature, so you have to dig up the bulbs. Often, they're quite deep and may not be round, but odd shaped and longer than they're wide, but the bulb is always white in colour. If you don't get that out and any of its offsets, they'll grow again. Your only other option is simply to cut them down as low as possible - they won't grow again this year, but you'll have to do the same thing next year.

use a glyphospate weedkiller like Roundup. If this is just gravel and you don't intend to plant anything in it use Path clear. it will kill them. Personally the roundup is better as it is systemic and will go down into the bulb and kill that for certain.

Really, Seaburngirl? I've tried glyphosate and even Pathclear, but it didn't work for me - they still grew the next year.

salt works well and washes away harmlessly as long as you don't want anything there for a while .

Best to use the glyphosphate after flowering as the plant translocates food reserves to the new bulb. It worked on an area of wild garlic too. The bulb then dies. It works well with perennial weeds like bindweed too.
