There should be several kinds of American hybrid grapes that will do well in your area, Stanford. Small-fruited squashes, gourds, and cucumbers, and vigorous pole beans, such as Chinese yard-long bean, are annual possibilities. Also, ask your local County Cooperative Extension.

are you able to grow grape vines where you are? if yes then they are ideal and if you chose a good variety the children will have fresh fruit to eat and if they don't like them then home made wine for you.
