Bird's Eye. As you say, a pretty weed in the garden. Lovely along a field edge. There are always a few around in my garden and I just pull them up if I'm weeding or want to plant something there. They are not much bother and quite pleasing to the eye in odd corners. I remember picking a bunch for my mother when I was about 5 and all the heads fell off before I got home!

It's only a weed if you don't want it.

Its genus/botanical name is Veronica. There are many different species of this British wild flower/native.

Sounds like Speedwell (Bird's eye).
