I want to buy a Blackcurrant bush and then take cuttings from it to increase my stock, but I know that propagation of some varieties is banned without a licence. My problem is that I cannot find a list of which varieties need a licence and which don't despite plenty of searching online. Can anyone help please?

Yes, the Plant Breeders Rights issue only applies to selling the propagated material.

Hi, welcome to GoY, Ob is right P B Rs only apply if being used commercially, there is no restriction if propagated for your own use, and P B Rs last for 25 years, unless it.s for a tree, vine , or potatoes, then it lasts for 30 years, after which anyone can propagate and sell the propagated material, Derek.

Try the Blackcurrant Foundation website. I think the propagation under licence will mean for commercial production. Important thing is to buy certified plants from a registered supplier.
