Hello. Picking your brains....
I have a Sophora Sun King that is getting too big, I would like to prune it back a little into a better shape, it is mainly in bud at the moment, would it be ok to prune it now.
I sure is a lovely shrub as you can see from last year's picture.
2 Pic's of it in full flower and one in bud.

Looks a great specimen! I think that as it is bud you would risk losing flowers for this year - seems to be the sort of thing that you should be pruning earlier in the year while it is dormant.
Maybe someone has practical experience of it.

Interesting question , as far as I know they shoudnt be pruned but saying that I think very late winter spring but only if the plants doesn't bleed and I dont know if it does in spring ? as other shrubs should be left later

If it is like the Sophoras that I know, pruning in winter will reduce or eliminate bloom, since the buds form in late summer or fall.

My RHS 'bible' says to prune in late winter or early spring while dormant.
