I planted some new daffodil bulbs this year and they have been lovely but something is eating them. I have found a couple of small slugs inside the flower but the others just seem to have been nibbled away. There is a slug like slime on them. What is it?

If there's slime, its definitely slugs/snails. Immediate application of slug pellets would appear to be essential.

I'd guess it's the slugs as you suspect, they are mostly the little tiny black ones doing the nibbling at the moment. They are quite hard to spot, as they blend in quite easily with the dark damp soil.
