My husband put our ferns into the basement over winter and watered them sparractly, my asparagus fern is beautiful. I have 4 regular ferns that are brown, can I just trim them back? Will it regrow?

Most ferns apart from the evergreen ones go like that in winter. You can either remove the brown leaves or leave them to disappear on their own when you put the pots outside. They crumble up and fall apart when the warm weather comes.

I've got some ferns in my garden which are still crispy and brown - I usually cut all the old growth off in late Autumn and very soon the new fronds will be unfurling.
