Hello, Bamboo and thank you for the response. Where did you find the link? I googled yesterday for an hour and I didn t find anything.
'Tausendschön' produced a number of sorts and as far as I was informed by a guy from Vienna who grows roses, there are five white forms. According to Charles Quest-Ritson's book Climbing Roses of the World (page 109) William Paul and Son nursery in 1913 introduced a white sport (with an occasional pink tint) under the name 'White Tausendschön' (synonym: 'White Merveille').
Quest-Ritson also writes that as early as 1909 "... another white sport occured in Kiese's own nursery which he called 'Weiße Tausendschön'; it opened from a pale yellow bud into a mother-of-pearl flower which faded into white with no hint of pink. Kiese held back 'Weiße Tausendschön' when Paul's introduction appeared, but he was eventually persuaded to introduce it by Gräfin von Chotek, who considered it superior to Paul's form. The two forms are somewhat mixed in the trade now, but I'm inclined to agree that Paul's 'White Tausendschön' is marred by its pink flecks. Kiese's 'Weiße Tausendschön' acquires a greenish tinge as it ages."
I have this one.

I just googled 'Rosa Weisse Tausendschon' and it came up in German, more than one entry, then I googled 'Rosa Tausendschon' just to see what would happen, and loads more came up in English... Maybe you didn't put 'Rosa...' in before the rest?

I did, but all information are in German and I do not speak German.

If you see English versions of text, can you put here the link with English text, please?

I don't understand why you can't find it - you are using Google are you? There are at least 12 places, including Wikipedia Commons and Dave's Garden, where this rose is mentioned or described or for sale, if you google 'Rosa Tausendschon'. As for the Germanic ones which present if you google 'Rosa Weisse Tausendschon', google offers 'translate this page' next to the entries, but I'm not sure what it'll translate it into, given where you are... here's one other than the two I've mentioned

The following is a link to an American site which actually has this for sale. Can't find anywhere in the UK selling it so far though.

Rosa Weiß Tausendschön is a white version of the regular pink version. Info I got was:
Hybrid Multiflora.
Double (17-25 petals), in large clusters bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.

Couldn't find any images of...

Both the links I provided have pics, MG, that's why I picked those particular ones... its such a pity they don't automatically come up as links, meaning you have to copy and paste them...

Thank you to both of you for information. I will definitely bring the photo of my rose once it will start to bloom in June.
Bamboo, the one from

is the other (pinkish) variety, about which I wrote. These two are often mixed up.

Katarina, It's not very hardy - which is why it's not popular in the UK. Depending on where you are in Slovakia you may struggle give it enough protection. As Moongrower says, it has a U.S. zone rating of 6-9, which covers the southern states such as Arizona, Texas and Florida.
It's also a rambler, so only flowers once (fairly early in the year) another reason for its lack of popularity.
Good luck with it though - I'm all in favour of old roses rather than the recent introductions.

Thank you, Urbanite, for precious comments. It will be no problem here in Slovakia, I have Mediterranean style garden with many of those mediterannean plants and flowers. Historical roses usually bloom once in a year, so I expect that. Sometimes twice, it depends on the year and cutting. We will see, definitely, I am looking forward to this old type of rose in my collection. Most of all I wanted to see its photos, which were rare on internet.

P.S. And, of course, I have got most of information on British webpage :-)

Depending on where you live in Slovakia the hardiness zone rating is from 7 - 8, so ideal conditions.

If you highlight any of the links given then right click on them you will get a drop down menu. Sometimes you need to choose "go to ---" or "Search with google ----" etc.
Katarina do you know Kiesse's full name and country. Maybe try finding him. Grafin von Chotek seems to be Marie ------. A very interesting person.
I found this photo but not sure if it is the version you want to see. If you click on the Union Jack you will get an English translation.

Scotsgran@ of course, Maria Chotekova, or Rose Grafin (countess), I wrote about her on this webpage some time ago. The Slovak Rose Society has its seat in Dolna Krupa manor house, where Maria Chotekova had her rosary. At the beginning of the 20th century it was the largest in Europe, comparable only to French ones. Kordes worked as gardener at her manor place for two years and she bought also roses from Geschwind (also known rosarian).
I am the member of the society. And since this month also controller, lol.

I was never very keen on roses Katarina because of the barbs but I have come to love the climbers and ramblers which I grow on our boundaries. Plants take on a new dimension when you start looking at their history.
Did you find the link I mentioned and is that the rose you are looking for? What does your role as controller involve?

Scotsgran@ Thank you for the link. To my surprise, it comes from the Czech Botanic garden, how did you find it there? Although the photo of the rose loosing blossoms and after rain is not very attractive, they should make photo earlier.

I finally found this description, however, it wasn there before. So thank you to those, who added it to this webpage.

I'm pleased you have found what you need but I'm sorry I cannot say how I found it. I tend to wander around looking at a subject from many angles. Sometimes I can see a history of where I have been but not on this occasion. I did enjoy searching. I did not find the link you have given on help me find either. i only found the pink version. The link you give shows a very much better photo than the one I found in the Czech Botanic garden. I'll look forward to seeing yours when it flowers. Will it flower this year?

I hope so. It has many young leaves and new shoots. Friends from Vienna Botanic Garden told me they are looking forward to see it as well, as they didn t know this rose has survived.

Fingers crossed then.

I am not afraid. The guy who breeds these old varieties, already delivered few to the Botanic garden. They look very nice.
Countess Maria Chotek in her written communication with other rosarians in Europe wrote about this rose as her most favourite. I hope it will be also my favourite.

Previous question
If you just enter 'Rosa Tausendschon', you should get up info in English - appears to be a pink rambling rose. 'Rosa Weisse Tausendschon' produces entries in German.
