Cockchaffers were almost wiped out many years ago.Hornets are on the decline because their habitat is being reduced when idiots panic thinking they are going to be stung to death by them. I mean how many of us have even seen a hornet in this country! We can live side by side with some of these creatures. And while I'm in high dudgeon start teaching children which plants are not safe instead of ripping them out of the garden (the plants not the children -oh I dunno though!!)

« Hello My camellia is full of buds, but some are falling off, Also some do not...
They are cockchaffer larvae which turn into May bugs. Although they eat roots ( and people try to get rid of them) the poor things spend up to 5 years as larvae and I leave them alone. I haven't noticed anything being decimated by them in my garden.
