A recipe for slug pubs ?

I have a number of slug pubs around my garden and very successful they are too. But beer is quite expensive so can anyone recommend a different liquid recipe that works just as well. Thank you.

Brew up your own mix of yeast, honey and water. It's the yeast, apparently, that attracts them.
I was looking at the 'no beer' traps last week (but the supplier can't get the bait) now I have tadpoles and I'm hoping that in about 10-12 weeks I will have frogs to deal with the slugs. Of course my hostas might not thank me for that 10-12 week wait.
