Can I take Ribes cuttings just now (April).?
My neigbour is planning to remove a stunning flowering currant very soon, and it is in full bloom now. I would like to have a few cuttings before they chop it down. Is there a chance the cuttings will survive? I know it's too early for them really.

Take as many as you can from hard and soft wood, and hope for the best......i'd try every way i can think of .....even water!....you never know. Goodluck

Now is the time to take cuttings of anything, always cut the flowers of the cuttings.

Hi, the usual method with these is hardwood cuttings in winter, but as Pamg says, try everything you can think of, you've nothing to lose, and possibly something to gain, after all, plants can't read, Derek.

It certainly is Pam, if they don't root you've lost nothing, Derek.

Might be a problem finding a piece without any flowers on. If you can then you have nothing to lose if the shrub is going to be dug up anyway.
