I have some hyacinths in a tub outside. They are now past their best. Can anyone tell me what to do with them. I would like them in the garden but don't know whether they can be transplanted now and if so how deep and do I cut the spent flowers off before I plant. Hope someone can help.
Thank you to all for your info. Don't know if this is the right way to say "thanks" but hope so.

They should come up every year but the size of the flowers will gradually decrease over the years.

I buy Hyacinths every year for the house, then transplant them in the garden with no problems.

The flowers on ours have stayed pretty much the same size as they were originally. But, then, our soil is very fertile.

So feed them, if yours get smaller over time.

We have a garden full of rescued Hyacinths. Give them a good soaking and plant at the same depth as they are in the tub. Remove the flower stem down to where it emerges from the bulb. Try not to damage too many roots and leaves.
