Cyprus
we have bourgainvillea damaged by very late frost in Cyprus. All of main branches appear to be dead but just beginning to sprit right at base. What to do? Shall we cut it right back to base or leave it?
Thanks Jane

If the only sign of life is at the base, cut back to there. If you wait too long, it'll be difficult to remove dead parts once the new growth from the base gets going. If you want to check the branches are actually dead, scrape some bark off with a fingernail - if its brown and dry beneath, its dead, if its pale and moist, its not.
