This beauty is growing in a pot at my daughters house. She doesn't want to put it in the ground in case she moves in the near future so what can she do to ensure its good health? The pot is bigger than it looks as is hidden. If the pic is upside down that's an iPad for you. I need to get help with editing.

Thanks. The flower is the size of a large dinner plate. It's a tree peony by the way.

Then she needs to get it into the ground a.s.a.p. it won't survive in a pot - no matter how big.

I guess it depends how near the near future is though?
Should be Ok for a month or two?

One should take note of the position that the plant is in relation to the amount of sun exposure it gets presently. If that plant is moved and no attempt is made to duplicate its growing conditions...well that dinner plate could drop and fall to pieces.

It's at the back of the barn west facing in dappled shade from a small tree. She won't put it in the garden in case she moves - she rents and wants to buy her own place but when is anybody's guess. Thanks everyone for all your help.

I've got a tree paeony in a pot about the size of a very big bucket 2' diameter. it has been growing in it for 5yrs now. it has flowered this year too. So it wont come to any harm in the short term.

Thank you SBG. It only had one flower but we will make sure it's looked after.

Looks as if it is growing fine, so long as she keeps it watered and adds a bit of feed occasionally should do okay.
