moluccella laevis (bells of Ireland) have been established, grown from seed, in large pots for 3 years but won't flower. Can anyone tell me why?
The pots are very large. In west facing sheltered spot.

yes this sounds wrong as bells of Ireland are annuals. the flowers have a green bract and a small insignificant flower so perhaps they set seed every year.

Are you sure that's what you're growing? Moluccella laevis is a half hardy annual, and is sown yearly, when it grows, flowers, sets seed and dies. Post a photo if you're not sure.
