Annuals are I think best sown in situ where they are to flower, I don't think they like being disturbed .....you could sprinkle some more around the ones you've planted our...., they will possibly flower later on.....look out for the limmy critturs though...its a jungle out there?

I've only ever known NSS to be sown in situ, which you say you read - so not quite sure why you're lifting them.

« Got white on the leaves of my roses, what is this and can it be cured
Decades ago when my parents used to grow bedding plants to sell, all the plants were seeded in trays, pricked out into other tray when big enough and then when ready to sell, lifted and bunched in newspaper wrappings. Father then took them on a vegetable round he used to do to fill the orders. So... these always survived, yours probably just want a day or two to settle in to their new position and will then romp away. We are so used to things being in plugs etc., the old ways have fell by the wayside, but with the better weather predicted (??) they should be fine.
