United Kingdom
Having recently moved to N.Ireland and taken ownership of an ignored and un-loved garden, I have uncovered and attempted to rescue a small struggling plant (see attached photo). By the small bulblets and structure I am assuming this to be a Crocosmia, but I have not come across one of this colour before. Is this worth nurturing or is it likely to revert to the very common orange version which grows almost wild in this part of the U.K?

Yes I think Fractal is right, at first glance I thought gladiolus byzantine but its not.

I thought it was that too SBG. Aren't Dieramas more pendulous than that?

yes that's why the stake should be taken out so it can 'dangle'. A common name is angel's fishing rods.

I think the flower is too open shaped for any of the Dierama that I know. All mine are more 'funnel' shaped.

SBG please could you tell me why you decided it isn't the gladiolus? its too dark to go out into the garden and look at one!

Wish the image was the right way up, it would make life a lot easier. There ought to be some way of making photos appear in the correct orientation when posted from various gadgets. This happens on other sites too!

Used to be called Schizostylis, now Hesperantha coccinia. Or maybe not, but certainly not a Crocosmia, sorry
