This plant has been growing in my garden and I thought it was a sunflower I planted last year. It has flowered now and am not sure if it is a weed or something I've planted and forgotten about. Can anyone identify it for me please. Thanks a lot. Sheila L.

Thank you Louise / Cammomile and Cestina for answering me so quickly.
I am so pleased its not a weed because it has such a pretty flower.
I planted a few plants last year which did not come up so am really pleased that something has survived the winter.
I will look it up now and find out some more info about it.

It is such a pretty plant that I would keep regardless of whether it is a weed. I think it is a pretty plant. It looks like a climber in which case I am going to look it up. ;~)))

Just looked it up and no it isn't a climber but a lovely plant for mid border

And the leaves are added to Tea leaves to make Earl Grey Tea.

I thought oil of bergamot (an extract from the plant) was added to the tea? This is one that slugs and snails absolutely LOVE!!

You're right! I was told it was the leaves of this plant by someone. Just goes to show, you should always double check information for yourself.
