My potato plants are huge. The plants are about 5 feet tall, with about 3 1/2 to 4 feet of soil. It's not even July yet. Hope I'm growing potatoes in my tower and not just leaves and stems. What am I supposed to do with them now.

they may be a late variety in which case nothing to worry about. as Bathgate says once they flower it becomes harvest time. if they set seed /fruit, it looks like a tomato [close cousins] but do not eat them they are poisonous.

Are they competing for light? It does look a bit gloomy in that corner.

Some varieties don't flower though. If there is room to scrabble some earth away you can often see if there are potatoes of harvestable size. Can you remember whether you bought earlies, second earlies or main crop? Only earlies will usually be ready yet, at least they are here.

Did the potatoes bloom? When the potatoes bloom, the leaves will die back and turn yellow. That's when it's time to harvest.
