I planted a climber late last year (Actinidia kolomikta) which took off very well with the leaves starting off white, turning to pink and then finally green. However, a few weeks ago the leaves started to go brown at the edges and began to shrivel. I did feed it a few weeks ago with a general garden feed, could this be the reason and if so what can I do to save it? Jeanette.

It would be useful to know whether the plant is in a pot or the ground, and where you are in the UK - anywhere south of Watford at least, it'll be drought, not sure if you're up North. Any plant not in the ground longer than 2 years needs watering during dry spells until its been in two years and has built itself a good root system.

Thank you for your reply. The plant is in the ground and I live in Suffolk. It is planted in a bed that gets sun all day so I water most evenings especially as it has been hot and dry in Suffolk just lately. In fact I did wonder if I had over watered it!

When you say you water most evenings, how are you watering? With a can, using at least two canfuls? With a hose and a spray gun on the end? With a sprinkler?

How do I say thanks?
