I have been given some roots from my son they are like bamboo cutting, the bamboo grows out of the centre of the clump and when fully grown they are just like the bamboo canes that you would use around the garden for supporting things also in the green house for supporting toms and cucumbers etc.

I'd try putting htem in a suitabley sized pot for now then, and try for an identificaton when they've grown a bit. Has your son seen the plant they were taken from?

Put a pic on your photo page and send a PM to Bamboo - she's the expert here.

Hi, this looks to me like the root of Arundo donax, common name giant reed, Derek.

It looks like the root of the Bamboo I have dug up, as Steragram said put it up in a pot and see how & if it grow's, if it is a Bamboo keep it in a pot, I wouldn't put a Bamboo in the ground again as the can be invasive, luckily I had ones that were easy to dig up Phew! LOL.

What are you asking? It would be a good idea to ask your son what they are. There are many different kinds of bamboo and some are very invasive so you need to know what they are before you decide where to plant them.
