I made a little japanese type garden and in a plantpot with a black grass was a little piece of green foliage with a yellow flower. Two years later its rampant but I quite like the effect.Any idea what it is and is it a weed?

I can't see the leaves clearly enough, needs to be much closer for detail - but first thoughts are Waldesteina (less likely) or small creeping celandine. does it put out runners?

Thanks Bamboo for being patient.I have put a close up on.....thank goodness the camera does its own thing,I pulled a bit up and it doesnt have runners. It has spread all over so I reckon it must self seed.

Oh dear, its exactly what I suspected, but didn't want to say - its a form of Oxalis, very invasive, so you will need to keep it under rigorous control. Can only be dug out, not pulled, it has a sort of central cluster at the base of the leaves, usually with a transparent bulb at the bottom - if you don't get all that out, you haven't removed it and it'll grow again.

Thanks Bamboo.....a bit wary now. Most of that area has membrane underneath so it tends to come out quite easily. You know what my next job is.

Shame its so rampant, I think its quite pretty, but I remove it relentlessly wherever it pops up - and it does, all the time.

It looks like the kind of Oxalis which is a pernicious weed in lawns here. If you like the effect, you can keep it, but as you are already finding out, it is EXTREMELY invasive, and almost impossible to get rid of once established. Note that the seeds remain viable for up to 10 years in the soil.

Nice area, but as for the yellow flowered plant, I think that might be it in the foreground, but I haven't got a telescopic zoom lens, Scabious, lol! Close up would be good.
