Hi Seaburngirl, I don't think it's a geranium, but I could be wrong. The stem is approx 18 inches to 2 feet tall, the flower itself is roughly half an inch diameter. I will try and send another pick to see if you can get a better balance of the dimensions.

The original picture has disappeared so can't identify now.

Well, all I'm seeing is cornflower and Flanders poppy but, given the small pot they are in none of them is going to be happy. Wildflower seed needs to be sown in the ground.

I suspect it might be blue flax. do the flowers last a day fall to be replaced by others?

Yes SG, one day then done.

The stem looks like a flax. The green outline doesn't really stand out - I was on the point of saying poppy and cornflower.
A close up of the stem and flower head would be helpful.

Moon growe, I know nothing about wild flowers, but I did try to sow them in the ground, alas my soil is very heavy clay and I got nothing. Hence put them in the planter.

Will flowers grow in impoverished soil not in anything fancy... if you had broken up the clay and added even a little bit of organic matter it would have worked. Think how the media advertises 'roughage' in your diet - in other words 'think roughage, to create smoothage' You need lots of organic elements in the ground to help break up the clay, which is bang full of nutriments! Just needs to be broken into hence the adding of lots and lots and lots or organic matter to break down in he soil.

Thank you, everyone. It was just an experiment really, I bought a box of wildflower seeds and filled a container with compost sprinkled on the seeds and this is the result.
It looks really pretty with the poppies, cornflowers etc.

at first glance it looks like a geranium or even a mallow but there is not enough info.
what are its leaves like, how tall is the stem, how wide is the flower?
