I would suggest taking them out and buying new ones. I do sometimes chance leaving them and sometimes they survive and sometimes not, it tends to depend on the species. I recently had to throw away a tub full of pansies that i was given as a present in march. I'm going to fill the tub they came in with a more reliable species.
