Last year I grew mangetout and kept some seeds for this year. After planting this year the flowers are coloured mainly pink to violet and the pods are yellow. The pods last year were green and the flowers white. Can you tell me why the flowers are coloured, and are the pods edible?

« Can anyone tell me what type of tree this is and how large it will grow?
there are several colours for pea flowers held in their genes. [genetics.]. when you allowed them to pollinate you just allowed the genes to mix randomly. the variety you grew last years will have been a specific F1 or F2 hybrid. grown with the gene outcome certain for flower and pod type.
the ones you have this year will still be edible but may not have the same flavour as those last year.
